This presentation describes how LGBT+ Westminster community were welcomed to Farm Street parish, and have since contributed to the liturgical, spiritual and pastoral life of the Church. Members of the congregation and the Parish Priest will reflect on the practical steps that made this journey possible and recount their story as Catholics. The positive impact this has had on both communities is considered, as is the learning for how other parishes may also want to extend a welcome to members of the Catholic family who are LGBT+.
Fr Dominic Robinson SJ is currently superior of the Jesuit Community at Farm Street Church of the Immaculate Conception in central London, where he has been on the parish team since 2012 and will succeed as parish priest in September. Farm Street Church, and the adjoining Mount Street Jesuit Centre, is a vibrant city centre ministry of the Jesuits, welcoming up to 3,000 visitors each week from far and wide, aiming to extend welcome and hospitality to many different groups. Since 2013 Farm Street has welcomed into the parish the LGBT Catholic Community in the Diocese of Westminster. Fr Dominic is also UK director of Landings, the programme for returning Catholics, teaches theology at Allen Hall, the seminary of the Diocese of Westminster and is ecclesiastical assistant to the charity Aid to the Church in Need.
