This is an interactive seminar which will include personal testimonies from families, drama, and inputs from experts working with families and individuals affected by addiction.
Darren Butler, Co-ordinator of the Irish Bishop’s Drugs Initiative
Darren Butler is National Coordinator of the Irish Bishops Drugs Initiative (IBDI). He has worked for IBDI for the last 9 years, firstly in the area of Community Development and for the past three years as National Coordinator. The IBDI facilitates parishes to mobilize and respond to the Drug issues affecting their families and communities. Darren has worked in the field of addiction for 15 years in a number of roles including Youth Advocate on an intensive programme with young people, many of whom had addictions, helping them to reconnect with family and community. Darren also spent time as a Family Support Worker facilitating young people and families with a range of needs, with many in addiction or who been imprisoned. Darren is married to Fiona and lives in Drogheda, Co Louth.
