“Just by a small gesture, a little something, harmony within your family will be restored” (AL, 104). Young married couples should be encouraged to give each other “a morning kiss, an evening blessing, to wait at the door to welcome each other home, to take trips together and to share household chores” (AL, 226). This panel explores the various simple daily actions that can enrich our experience of love in family life.

Máire and Bill O’Brien, Worldwide Marriage Encounter

Máire is a home maker and a fertility advisor. Bill works from home with Nokia as a Quality Audit Manager. They live at the Focolare Centre, Prosperous, Co Kildare.  They have 6 children, from 5 to 23 years, and recently became grandparents. Their Catholic faith is the light their world as a couple, permeating all they do. They are involved with Catholic family network, Marriage Encounter and are members of Focolare for about 25 years and of New Families. They are also involved in their Parish and in the Prolife movement. They completed a Marriage Encounter Weekend 7 years ago, only then realizing the profound effect it would have on their relationship, opening doors to new possibilities of openness, understanding and growth. Since then they have participated in many “bridging” sessions, providing them with the tools to achieve what Christ wants for them and for their marriage.
