“It is not easy to approach the issue of sex education in an age when sexuality tends to be trivialized and impoverished. It can only be seen within the broader framework of an education for love, for mutual self-giving. In such a way, the language of sexuality would not be sadly impoverished but illuminated and enriched” (AL, 280). This panel discusses relationship and sexuality education for children and the contribution made by Amoris Laetitia.

Anita Conlan, ACCORD, Ireland

Anita Conlan is originally from Liverpool but has lived in Dublin for 44 year since her marriage to Gerard. They have 3 grown up children, 2 daughters and 1 son and 2 grandchildren. Anita joined ACCORD 24 years ago and trained as a facilitator to deliver Marriage Preparation Programmes and subsequently trained as a trainer to train other facilitators. She has been involved in the area of Relationships and Sexuality Education for the past 22 years, firstly as a facilitator and then as manager of the team. She works with children from 10 years old to young adults of 18 years old and enjoys every minute spent with students, even the more challenging ones, as she finds these are often the very ones that need this programme the most. As well as working with ACCORD Anita is involved in designing and delivering personal development courses to groups in Dublin City.
