10 ways you can support the WMOF2018 with 6 months to go
With just six months left until the World Meeting of Families 2018 begins in Dublin on 21 August, Brenda Drumm, Media and Communications Manager for the event shares 10 ways you can support WMOF2018:
- Register Now!
Registration for all WMOF2018 events is now open. Attendance at all World Meeting of Families 2018 events will require tickets/registration and while some events are free, others will be subject to a fee. We invite you to register now for whatever combination of events you want to be part of at www.worldmeeting2018.ie/en/Tickets.
- Volunteer Now!
The World Meeting of Families 2018 will attract thousands of Irish and International pilgrims. Organising it and seeing it through will only be possible with the help of thousands of volunteers. Will you consider being part of a team to help us deliver the famous Irish welcome – the Céad Míle Fáilte? Sign up on our website, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on (01) 5676800.
- Take part in the ‘Amoris: Let’s Talk Family! Let’s be Family!’ Programme
Parishes will shortly be offering the first of six parish sessions as part of our Amoris: Let’s Talk Family, Let’s be Family programme. The first theme that parishes will be looking at is ‘The Reality of Family Life Today’. You can find out more about the parish programme and related resources on www.amoris.ie.
Please consider making a financial contribution to this once in a generation event. We would also encourage people to give generously at the designated parish collections. We thank parishioners for their support to date.
- Host A Family
We are now actively seeking offers of accommodation for overseas pilgrims in family homes in the Dublin area, and particularly in areas which have good bus or rail links to the City Centre. Hosting a pilgrim family, or an individual pilgrim, would mean welcoming them into your home between Saturday 18 August and Monday 27 August, and to provide them with a simple clean bedroom and breakfast each day. All pilgrims staying in hosted accommodation will have been referred to the WMOF2018 by the national delegate of their home country. Please call the hosting team on 0353 1 567 6800 or email email@example.com for more information.
- Connect with your parish/diocese
Your parish and diocesan identity will be to the fore at the WMOF2018 event. We invite you to connect in with your parish and diocese to see what they are doing to prepare for WMOF2018 and to enrich family life. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to reconnect with your parish and to meet new people on the road to WMOF2018!
- Connect with WMOF2018 online and Share our posts
We invite you to LIKE us on Facebook and FOLLOW us on Twitter and Instagram to keep up to date with the preparations for WMOF2018. We would also be grateful for any Retweets or Shares to share the good news about WMOF2018. You can also use the hashtag #WMOF2018 across all social media platforms to find and share news about the 9th World Meeting of Families.
- Go and see the WMOF2018 Icon
The Icon of the Holy Family that Father Damien McNeice wrote about in the last issue of Intercom Magazine is continuing its journey around the dioceses of Ireland. The images and cards depicting the icon are beautiful but there is nothing like seeing the real thing so do go along when it visits your parish/diocese.
- Exhibit at the RDS Congress
Right at the heart of the WMOF2018 Congress venue, there will be an indoor exhibition space hosting over 300 exhibition stands. If your organisation is interested in booking a stand at the exhibition, you can apply at http://www.worldmeeting2018.ie/en/Get-Involved/Exhibit or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Please pray for Pope Francis as he prepares to come to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families 2018. Pray too for all of us on the organising team, and pray especially for all families here in Ireland and across the world. Download the official prayer for WMOF2018 and use it as part of your daily prayer as we continue on the road to WMOF2018 in August.
