The World Meeting of Families comes to Ireland! Dublin, Ireland, has been chosen by Pope Francis to host the next World Meeting of Families in August 2018. This major world event celebrates family as the cornerstone of our lives, and the fundamental building block of society and the Church. Families from all over the world will gather in Dublin from 21-26 August 2018 programme of workshops, talks and discussions for adults; an engaging and exciting programme for young people as well as faith and fun activities for children. WMOF2018 will include the daily celebration of Mass, a festival of families’ event, exhibitions, cultural events, musical performances and events around the country.

World Meeting of Families 2018 Limited by Guarantee is a company set up to plan and deliver the scheduled events in 2018. We are a small friendly energetic team and are now looking to add more staff to work with us in the preparations for the events in August 2018. We are looking for candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment and who can bring the skill we need to deliver this exciting event in August 2018. All positions are on a contract basis.

Purchasing Officer – Event Services and Logistics Department

Position: The Purchasing Officer – Event Services and Logistics Department, will be responsible for supporting the management and delivery of an efficient and effective logistics service for the successful implementation of the WMOF2018 Events. This will include the support of process for planning, purchasing and supply of goods and services for the WMOF2018.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager Duties include:

  • Planning with the Senior Project Manager for Event Services and Logistics and other senior staff to establish a preferred list of services and supplies required by the various departments and committees for the World Meeting of Families 2018
  • Assist with the planning of venue space management including the delivery, distribution, warehousing and retail areas for the World Meeting
  • Assist with the planning for the full end to end procurement function, vendor identification, vendor selection, negotiation, contract management and vendor performance.
  • Assist the services and supplies management on site during the events.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):

  • A third level qualification in purchasing or business management or relevant work experience.
  • Experience of goods and service purchasing and management of distribution
  • Proven knowledge of the Festival and Events industry
  • IT Literacy – MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, CRM Database
  • Commitment to the ethos and objectives of the World Meeting of Families 2018
  • Fluent Written & Spoken English is essential

Sponsorship Manager

Position: The Sponsorship Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of a strategy for the delivery of significant and appropriate corporate sponsorship associated with the planned events and activities which will facilitate the effective hosting of a successful World Meeting of Families 2018. This role will be a fixed term contract.

Reporting to the General Manager Duties include:

  • Review and assess all aspects of the WMOF2018 planning and programme, in conjunction with project and operations managers, and prepare detailed reports on opportunities such as sponsorship, commercial partnerships and new sales and revenue streams
  • Identify potential sponsors and the potential benefits to them of association with the World Meeting of Families.
  • Manage the process from approach (including presentation design) to contract with the sponsor, ensuring that the correct documentation is agreed and signed.
  • Ensure that commitments regarding sponsorship deals, major exhibitors and features are delivered on time and as agreed.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):

  • A proven track-record in sponsorship sales
  • An established knowledge of the festival and events industry
  • An established knowledge of working in the Charities Sector
  • An established knowledge of creative pitch writing and presentation.
  • An understanding of the ethos and objectives of the World Meeting 2018

Volunteer Coordinator

Position: The Volunteer Coordinator, while working on a day to day basis with the Volunteer Department Project Manager, will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and administration of all volunteer personnel, policies, procedures and activities related to the recruitment, assignment, training and deployment of the 2,500 volunteers required for WMOF2018. He/she will also assist with the planning and implementation of the Volunteer Recognition Plan.

Reporting to the Volunteer Project Manager duties include:

  • Support the development and implementation of the overall Volunteer Services Plan for recruitment and training of the volunteer WMOF2018.
  • Assist with the management, ongoing maintenance and supervision of the Volunteer database.
  • Facilitate the coordination and daily operations of the Volunteer Information Centre which will be run by volunteers.
  • Provide support to the Volunteer Project Manager to implement and deliver effective recruitment and training for all volunteers.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):

  • Minimum of a least two years’ experience in HR or Volunteer Services administration is required
  • High standard of written and spoken English
  • A good understanding of the objectives of the World Meeting of Families 2018
  • Familiarity with the management structure of the Catholic Church would be useful
  • Experience of working with volunteers for events or festivals would be useful
  • Multi-lingual capability is desirable

Intern Opportunities
Working alongside our staff, students on our internship programme have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and gain confidence from practical experience and mentoring. A small number of Internships will be offered for between 6 to 9 months, working in several different areas

  • Marketing and Communications
  • Events Services
  • Logistics
  • Office Management and Administration

Essential Requirements
You must be a student of a graduate programme relevant to one of the areas we require. You must have Fluent English to a business level, excellent written, verbal and communication skills. Non-Irish citizens must have relevant documentation to be involved in an internship in Ireland. You must have a commitment to the values of World Meeting of Families 2018.

The Commitment
This is an unpaid 6 or 9-month internship. However, there will be a small allowance to cover transport and lunch. The intern will be based in our office in Dublin for 5 days per week. WMOF2018 office provides a highly motivating working environment and an opportunity to be involved in a world Event. WMOF2018 will provide office space, support meetings, training where possible and references. Occasional weekend and evening work hours may be required as part of this position. Each intern will work on a specific project, dealing with tasks related to their knowledge and expectations.
