Every three years the Church brings together the largest international gathering of families in the world. In 2018 this gathering will take place in Dublin, Ireland, a place known for its long Christian heritage and its welcome.
Dublin is one of Europe’s busiest airports with flights from over 60 airlines and 179 international destinations, including daily arrivals from more than 30 airports in UK and over 100 in Europe; direct flights from USA, Canada, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dublin can also be reached by sea, in modern state of the art Ferries either from France or the UK.
With accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, Dublin has a plentiful choice of 3, 4, 5 star hotels or B&B Home accommodation for those who wish to experience an Irish home.
With its unique architecture and history, its heritage and culture, Dublin has attractions to suit families, adults, young people and children alike. Dublin is a family friendly, walkable, compact city with a tradition of welcoming people for events and festivals ranging from corporate, artistic, leisure and special interest. Dublin is a hub for business and art, creativity and inspiration, music, literature, theatre, painting and sculpture. It is a truly cosmopolitan capital city where people are friendly and welcoming.
Dublin is also a Unesco city of Literature, home of world names such as Joyce, Yeats, Becket, Heaney, as well as of a fascinating mix of historical venues from castles, medieval crypts, theatres, Georgian houses and Victorian buildings.
Not far from the city there is a stunning landscape, coastal sea and exquisite countryside, unique sea and mountain scenery. Dublin in August 2018 will bring people from around the world together as one family of families for World Meeting of Families!
The Emerald Isle awaits you, the land of the shamrock, of saints and scholars, of fabulous stories from the past and of a lively festive present, of wild landscapes and adventures to be discovered. For centuries, Irish missionaries have travelled the world proclaiming the joy of the Gospel. Now we look forward to welcoming people from every corner of the world to our shores for the 2018 World Meeting of Families including, God willing, having Pope Francis join us for the Festival of Families and the final Mass.
